The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of London, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and the U.S. National Academy of Medicine co-hosted the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing in Hong Kong

27 Nov 2018 to 29 Nov 2018

The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of London, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and the U.S. National Academy of Medicine co-hosted the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing in Hong Kong in the Grand Hall of the Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre at the University of Hong Kong for 27 – 29 November 2018.

Since the first international summit on human genome editing was held in Washington, D.C. in 2015, research on human genome editing has continued to advance rapidly. However, many questions remain about the science, applications, ethics, and governance of human genome editing. The second summit brought together a broad range of stakeholders — including researchers, ethicists, policymakers, patient groups, and representatives from science and medical academies and organizations worldwide – to continue to advance the global dialogue.
