Public Lecture - Meeting the Decarbonization Goals of the UN Climate Changes Conference in Paris: COP21

Climate changes might have detrimental effect on mankind. To tackle this threat, 195 countries adopted a challenging targets of decarbonisation in the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in December 2015. Many experts considered that these targets cannot be achieved without new technologies. In this lecture, Prof Frank Shu shared the new technology developed by his team which could be used to meet the UN decarbonisation goals.
Professor Shu is a University Professor Emeritus of University of California at Berkeley and San Diego, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan. In 2009, Professor Shu was awarded the Shaw Prize in recognition of his outstanding life-time contributions to theoretical astronomy.
This Public Lecture was co-hosted by The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences and the Kadoorie Institute of The University of Hong Kong. Participation was free of charge and was open to the public.
