Prof Ching Wan Tang inducted into the 2018 US National Inventors Hall of Fame
Prof Ching Wan Tang was inducted into the 2018 US National Investors Hall of Fame (NIHF) in recognition of the OLED invention, which has improved the display technology.
Prof Tang is the IAS Bank of East Asia Professor and Chair Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interest centers on developing optoelectronic devices based on organic semiconductors. He is best known for the invention of Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED), which has been successfully commercialized for display and lighting applications.
NIHF was established in 1973 by the USPTO and honors monumental achievements by individuals who have contributed great technological and scientific innovations.
